Because it had to be done.
An abridged arrangement of "Still Alive" (theme from "Portal") by Jonathan Coulton, on the 61-bell carillon at the top of the 175-ft Storke Tower on the UCSB campus.
Arranged and performed by Greg Courville, with instructor Margo Halsted at the pedals.
I am compelled to point out that, under the control of a competent musician, the carillon is capable of making music that is orders of magnitude more interesting than what you're hearing here. For those who may be offended by the abuse of such a magnificent instrument, please keep in mind that I had only ever laid hands on these batons a few times prior.

easlern: The instrument itself was fine. The individual operating it, well, I'm not so sure. ;-)

Why would a song called "Still Alive" be at a funeral? Irony?

University of California At Santa Barbara...the kid is a student...imagine playing this when you are just learning...it takes brute strength as well as musical training...could you do it?
