Thanks for the comment. I use arches 140 lb cold pressed paper. My brushes are a collection I've picked up over the years - good quality but not extremely expensive.  Most of my paints are M Graham or Winsor & Newton. Tubes of paint are for sure the way to go. It's much harder to get rich washes with pans.

been meaning to ask... what brand of paper, brushes and paint do you use? i like the idea of tubed paint better than pans, after seeing you working with it.
