Mimosa pudica in Vang Vieng, Laos. This member of the bean family is native to Central America but has spread as an invasive weed to all tropical continents. The "wilting" is due to a rapid loss of pressure in key areas of the plant's hydrostatic system. The scientific term for this is "nyctinastic movement." The plant re-opens at sunrise.
