Sorry about the grainy picture - having trouble with my camera. We don't often get bats of any kind brought in to the wildlife center. I didn't even know we had red bats living in the area. These bats are just a bit larger than Mexican Free Tail bats. Unlike Mexican Free Tails, which live communally, red bats are solitary creatures. They sleep during the day suspended by one foot from a branch, so they look like leaves. This video is of a release attempt. The bat did not want to fly away, so it was placed gently in a tree.
