This is the 14th part of the EVRIC Holden Barina EV Conversion series.
The car drives like a dream... except for the rattle in the passenger's door. (I'll fix that soon.)
Come on a journey with me around the suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.
Note: The ZEVA MC600S controller is now installed and working great !

  • Good day mate. Thanks for the tour of beautiful downtown Adelaide. Does your car have regenerative braking? Very nice work!

  • @moviewatcher1024 - This a DC system with no regen. The only time I miss it is going down hill - there is is no braking effect, so the brakes are used a lot in this situation On the plus side I coast for kilometres sometimes - zero amps !

  • how much does it cost you to run?

  • @pyro23281 - Hi, It costs me about 1.2 cents per Km.

  • The range is about 85Kms (53miles) taking the batteries down to 20% state of charge. My daily usage is usually much less than that.

  • Thanks Floyd,

It cost $660.00 for the Engineers report (this is about the lowest to expect, if the engineer has to do a lot of work it can be up in the thousands) and $221.00 for the "Regency Park" Department of Transport inspection. No extra charges to have it registered as "Electric". The Registration certificate now shows "Electric" as the Engine Number.

  • how many mile you get in the city on one charge

  • @paker51 - Yes, I was starting in second, then changing to third, but with careful driving there's not a lot of difference in current drain. I just like...not having to change gears.

  • Have you tried shifting from second to third to keep the amp draw down?

  • @evric2008 We're still soldering the controller up, nearly all the components are in the driver board. I should post an update.
