@dfilboy ...Because Celine was NOT yet an international star-Whitney was. Celine was a teen star in Canada in '85 and probably recalls Whitney touring over there when she opened for Luther Vandross and eventually as a headliner. Remember Celine did not become known in the states until she did the song with Pebo Bryson for the soundtrack to "Beauty and The Beast", circa 1991 or '92?. Whitney had been major for 7 years by that time.

I've always thought that Whitney, Celine, Mariah and Stephanie Mills, should have done something together - a quartet that would have been remembered for all time.

Before you "rank" anybody, make absolutely certain you remember Stephanie Mills. As quiet as it's been kept all these years, she was and is a better singer than Whitney, through the octaves and she had better tonality than Whitney.

Still, all four of those ladies on stage at the same time would have been mind blowing.

@cannoir That may be so but Celine's first public performance was at the age of 5 and also i am sure she first sang live on TV in Japan the same year she performed in France where you saw her. Either way she certainly did make her name in France more than anywhere else first :)
