Alan Merrill is introduced to an audience in London England by Meat Loaf. Merrill was the singer and songwriter of the original version of "I love rock n roll" in 1975 with his band the Arrows. The song has been recorded by Joan Jett, Britney Spears, Showaddywaddy and others.
Merrill has made quite a few solo albums since this clip was filmed in 1987.

  • This is long after Merrill was in The Arrows.

  • A decade at least after Arrows broke up.

  • That was Alan Merrill's "look" throughout the eighties. The leopard prints, Keds high tops and the ever present Les Paul guitar.

  • After he left the Neverland Express in 1989 Alan did some acting in the HBO Encyclopedia Brown TV series, then he did the Vodka Collins band reunion tours and recordings in Japan.

  • The spiked hair, leopard skin top, bullet belt and black spandex is sooo 80s!
