multimode 2 broadbanded - audio waveform on scope

for any idiots out there who put screwdrivers in radios to get extra watts, heres a video showing what a good quality audio speech waveform looks like on ssb. note PEP is simply the height between the positive and negative peaks of the envelope. PEP is the same as what you read on your wattmeter when you whistle. the average audio level should be about 50 to 60 % of this if its clean. So tweaking your radio without a scope, you may be just flat topping and distorting these nice rounded top envelopes into flat topped squared ones. Notice that always the envelopes appear in triangular forms in normal speech with the part at the left always the biggest and right always the smallest. If it doesnt look like this then its crap audio quality. Later I'll put up a video showing a rig before I PUT IT RIGHT.
When you tweak looking only at a power meter you dont know if your peaking the maximum envelope height or just transforming this sequence of triangular looking envelopes into a continuos square and the peak staying in the same place . DO NOT TWIDDLE IF YOU DONT HAVE A SCOPE. and by the way, i dont align the radio by saying one, two etc etc but using a special tone generator which mixes 1000 hz with 2400 hz tones. The purpose of this video was to show what a typical speech pattern should look like and to let you know what you may be doing by twiddling. broadbanding a radio involves complete rf mixer realignment using a scope, not just a tweak here and there looking at your wattmeter.

you couldnt see the trace on the Blackberry without turning ithe scope up so bright because of the light that the blackberry gives out taking videos....my room is very dark even at daytime.

It doesnt matter it´s only a cheap one!! 200 euros on ebay Incl. P&P from USA 1 year ago.
