There is music and sounds throughout, although they're not constant. There should be more, I guess.

November, 2007 marked the 25th anniversary of the release of the Vectrex in my country. This is a celebration of the system and some of it's games to date, NOT a comprehensive history or a who's who behind it, in case there's any question of "why no mention of Jay Smith?", since, when I say I thank everyone tied to it, I mean EVERYONE, from back in the day to Mark Shaker nowadays who makes PCBs for it.

The music near the end during the game list comes from Vecmania and the piece after that is from Vector 21.

And, check out my all Vectrex wiki!

I also have a vector gaming forum too as well: http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/index.cgi

  • I found one of these at a ThriftStore in my town. It was not in the box or anything it was just the unit and the controller. I only paid 5bucks for it. I have only had it for about a week and i am thinking on weather to sell it of keep it and buy games. Hell, i'd probably be the only 15 year old in my town that owns a vectrex!

  • Wow, can't beat the price!

Yes, you're probably just a few kids that age that has one!

I'd definitely keep it, there's a lot of good homebrew cartridges for it...I've got 13 cartridges, which the total number of games with those 13 is a little over 30, since many of those cartridges has more than one game each (one has nine total). Many of them are a very good buy.

  • Very Nice!

  • Thanks!

  • Eek, help...spike...oh no...Molly !! LOL

I still own one, don't know if I should sell it ?

  • Hi cruesiesel, can't really say, I don't know what your priorities are. If you're having a lack of space and/or need the cash, then I'd put it up for sale (not NOW though, say a 3-D Imager, two 'trexes, and several games sell for only $475 the other week?! When 'garage sale season' starts, the prices go down!).

If you just don't play it because you're sick of the games, I'd check out the many excellent homebrews that are available...I just sent off for two more the other day actually :)

  • I always wanted one.

  • @LanIost aw man, i just traded mine in on craigslist. I just didn't really see the charm in it. I know i am still young and don't understand the classics but i wanted something that i would actually enjoy playing. I traded it for a model 1 sega genesis with the CD and 32X attachments and about 40 games. Hell i noticed that i am playing my Genesis more than my Ps3! I think i did a good trade because i think the Vectrex would of been better off with someone who would actually enjoy it.

  • I must have got lucky. I feel bad you looked for 28 years.

I walked into a local buyit/trade it when I had some time to kill waiting on my gf. I told them, when they asked, that the only thing I would consider buying would be a TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine. They then told me that those were RARE. I replied with "well, if you are talking rare, I've always wanted a Vectrex but I don't even ask because I know no one will ever have one at a place like this..."

  • Yeah I don't know, I never saw any schematics, much less a photo of the thing, so I couldn't tell ya. Hopefully I will some day!

All I can guess is that they somehow made it smaller and lighter than the original (hopefully!).
