The English Armada (also known as the Counter Armada, or the Drake-Norris Expedition) was a fleet of warships sent to the Iberian coast by Queen Elizabeth I of England in 1589, during the Anglo-Spanish War (15851604). It was led by Sir Francis Drake as admiral and Sir John Norreys as general, and failed to drive home the advantage England had won upon the dispersal of the Spanish Armada in the previous year. The campaign resulted in defeat and eventually to a withdrawal with heavy losses both in lives and ships

They were assigned several objectives, the first being to seek out and destroy the surviving ships of the 1588 Armada in the ports of northern Spain. The second was to make a landing at Lisbon, to raise a revolt there against Philip II, then King of Portugal as well as Spain, and to supplant him with the Prior of Crato, the last surviving heir of the Aviz dynasty. The third objective was to occupy the Azores, if possible.

None of its aims were accomplished

Unfortunately they succeeded and now rule the world with an iron fist through the Anglo-American Establishment. Look at the former Spanish Empire all third world. British thieves U.S. and Canada...They believe the British Royal Family has the "divine right to rule" the entire world and want to march it toward world government. They control the U.S. and make it seem like it's just them, but in reality the U.K. is the power base which controls and orders the U.S. around like a puppet. They pirate, thieve, manipulate and rewrite history the way they see fit, but this is the way they have always done things. They are cowards and a den of vipers. Also dismantling the Spanish Empire was their handiwork.

@MrCorocotta The U.S. never really gained it's independence, they did for awhile, but it was short lived. They took back control of the U.S. through the Federal Reserve a private bank that prints and controls all of the U.S.'s money. Andrew Jackson saw this and tried to stop it, unfortunately failed. The bankers had him assassinated and now the U.S. secretly still belongs to the U.K. The U.S. is just a tool an extension of their tyrannical power. They try to make it seem like it's not.

The Royal Family included they are evil. Extremely evil do in depth research on their history and you will see what I am talking about. @ielaba98 Yes however spanish rule was not too bad. The economic trade between brazil and spanish america was great. and when the dutch assaulted brazil, it was castile not portugal that launched the liberating counter attack. The portuguese aristocrats were happy under spain...It wasnt until Phillip IV raised taxes that portugal became discontent. Imagine if portugal remained in spain today...they would have the best ever soccer team

Due to the withdrawal of it´s mission my Country Portugal had to live 60 years under the Spanish rule... and only regain independence in 1640 with the foundation of the new Braganza dynasty!
