ROSE TO #29 IN 1966. LYRICS: On our block all of the guys call her flamingo
Cause her hair glows like the sun
And her eyes can light the sky
When she walks she moves so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight
She's out of reach and out of sight
When she walks by she brightens up the neighborhood
Oh every guy would make her his if he just could
If she just would
Some sweet day I'll make her mine pretty flamingo
Then every guy will envy me
Cause paradise is where I'll be
Pretty flamingo pretty flamingo
When she walks by she brightens up the neighborhood
Oh every guy would make her his if he just could
If she just would

  • I am only 15 and I love this song. 50s-80s music is much better than the shit we get today.

  • What a great song. it reminds me of a girl i couldn't bring myself to talk to-40+ yrs ago

  • I like Teddy Vanns version on Academy records better.

  • You say this rose to No 29 but it was definitely No 1 in the British charts in May 1966, surely. Aged Linda

  • I hate DOO WAH DIDDY! Manfred Mann had so many other better songs. Every time I hear Pretty Flamingo, I think of the girl across the street who had the long golden brown hair and crimson dress that fit so tight. Never had a chance with her.

  • A great tune by Manfred Mann. Your traditional oldies radio stations tend to play DOO WAH DIDDY over and over again. Manfred Mann had other great records. Good Post.

  • when this song came out i was a long distant lorry driver and i would stop to have something to eat and if there was not a juke box in that cafe i would to another cafe to findthat song

  • @MiddleOfTheOreo Its been a while since you posted your repley, but you should try the band from Manchester called 'the stone roses'; I love the genius of the 60s so I think you would like them.

  • My first love, short mini skirt, long legs, long blond hair, big blue eyes and a smile you'd die for

  • @MiddleOfTheOreo nobody cares about your age!!! I'm younger than you and love this song, not that it even matters.
