BusinessLexus Again Tops JD Power Dependability StudyLexus Again Tops JD Power Dependability StudyThe Associated PressLexus once again stands alone atop a closely watched list of vehicle dependability after Buick slipped from the No. 1 spot it shared with the Japanese luxury brand last year, J.D. Power and Associates said Thursday. (Aug. 7)Once again, Lexus stands at the top of J.D. Power and Associates vehicle dependability rankings. It's the 14th straight year the high-end brand owned by Toyota has held the highest ranking, though last year it shared the top spot with Buick, which is down to sixth place this year. Ford's Mercury brand ranked second, followed by GMs' Cadillac. Broken out by segment, Lexus took top honors in six categories. Toyota led four and tied Honda for a fifth. Land Rover, which Ford sold this year to an Indian company, was the worst-performing brand. The J.D. Power study measures problems experienced by the original owners of vehicles after three years. The types of issues reported by consumers are trending to what are considered "soft" problems. [Notes:SOT: David Sargent, VP for automotive research] DESCRIBES PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED.Besides the Buick Century, one other GM vehicle was ranked best in its segment: The Chevrolet Monte Carlo took the honor amid midsize sporty cars. Chrysler was the only Detroit automaker with no brands ranked better than the industry average. J.D. Power's dependability results are watched closely by automakers and consumers alike. Owners' opinion of a car can be a major influence on whether they will purchase the brand again. ___ ___, The Associated Press.(****END****)

  • ...they didnt call my car a piece of shit, they ranked it lower than Consumer Reports in spite of their suspect ranking system. GM cars........the president of GM admited that they built inferior vehicles for the longest time and the president even posted an apology. YET, I think GM was probably ranked high on dependabilty with JD Power.

  • JD Powers? Consumer Reports ranked by 2008 Honda civic as one of the most reliable. JD Powers, on the other hand, called Honda an unreliable pice of shit. WHY? JD claims that the brake dust vents out and enters the engine...DESPITE the fact that such dust created no damage, they say the car is a peace of shit because dust could POTENTIALLY damage the engine! JD is utterly useless...they call the GM and Ford ahead of time advising that they are coming to buy one.....

  • JD Power and Associates??? Pfffffft!!!!.....their testing is suspect, in my opinion. A car that emits brake dust is considered as having a catastrophic failure. Ummm......I think i will stick with Consumer Reports. Besides, CR´s buys cars undercover...u dont know they are coming.

  • yea right... idk why gm is even on the list... lexus all day!!!

  • All is about the money and relationships to make more money, they are not going to bite the hand that feed them!
