Stephen Harper gets by with a little help from his friends as he makes a surprise appearance at the National Arts Centre to sing the Beatles' hit with famed cellist Yo Yo Ma
@medicalhockey Again, you're not looking at this objectively. We all want to protect the environment, but when the economic benefits of environmental degradation outweigh the costs of doing so, it is a disservice to society not do so. Tell the unemployed father with three kids how much you care about a fucking lake. The earth is not a living thing. Its a giant rock that serves no other purpose than to be exploited by human beings. If we do so in a smart way our society will be far better off.
@JaysGOP because noone has the right to destroy the earth. this is the place where people live and it should be respected. the earth will be here forever while a person is here only for one life time. what gives the right to one asshole to destroy the earth for our children in the future. And like i said, the jobs will be temporary but a 300 meter crater will always be there. maybe people should stop acting so selfishly and think about the people in the future.
@medicalhockey Temporary money? When we sell oil to the United States, we benefit. That's what happens when one party sells something to another party. There is a lot of oil in Canada. Canadians are employed in the industry, they make money, they spend that money, and the entire economy benefits over a long period of time. I don't see why having more people unemployed is preferable to a hole in the ground. Why exactly should we care about a wildlife reserve?

Funny. Harper's not exactly a "life of the party" kind of guy, but this was a good moment.
