Realistically, would a machete work in blocking a chainsaw?

@weaverisinsane I've wondered this myself. When I first saw this movie I thought at the very least the chainsaw would throw the machete out of his hands. Obviously the power of being Denzel is good.

You're right. It is a machete. But the holes in it don't make it cheap. They're for fluidity. Cheap or not, he makes it rape face. So good for him.

@weaverisinsane Realistically? Probably not, but its possible if he held the blade at an angle so the chain would slide off instead of getting caught in it. It would still very likely chip the blade of his machete though.

I think it could work cause I think the point of the movie is that he is being lead by god. Which if you see the house scene you will understand.

@dfoots The way a chainsaw chain moves is from back to front along the top and front to back along the bottom. The way he blocked it, coupled with the shape that thing was probably in, might have worked.
