  • I think learning something like this is inspiring enough. If you need new techniques to keep your interest piqued, then you're in the wrong game. I've been training in Isshinryu (a goju derivative) for about 6 years and we always start with the basics. Basics doesn't equal ineffective or easy--it equals the basis of their style. Show some respect to their ranks, yo. Don't judge them on an 8 minute video.

  • it is karate

    it is not taewondo

  • @stelkiker99 I'd fully agree with that. To add on, I keep seeing the same issues with each of the techniques - during the mawashi geri's, some of them lift their feet a bit much as well as dropping their guards too much. When practicing their basic punches (jodan/chudan tsuki), their back feet keep lifting off the ground too.

All that said,it is good to see people going over the basics, something that gets forgotten all too often :)

  • hikiashi?????

  • The kicking technique is terrible. Problems are, his heel on his back foot doesn't stay on the ground, which will cause balance problems due to the unsteady balance of weight. Second, the front kick is a snap kick. He's pushing like a side kick. Third, he doesn't chamber his leg after he kicks making it easy to grab, then move into a sweep. I haven't watched the rest of the video, only because the first technique he demonstrated wasn't even correct. By the way, this is constructive critisism

  • very nice instructor and the students are doing well

    ITF Taekwondo

  • @dmitzah Hai every journey no matter how far starts w/ the first step, and in Karate its always starts w/ kihon osu.

  • a great demo of good solid basics well done, and lets not forget with out basics there would be no styles at all.

  • gonna stick the cam in the car next time Leo Lipinski take class I'll see if I can get someone to do some recording, sorry not missing a class to hold a cam.

  • thanks :LD

  • Nice, but when you're punching, your feet are taking off - its bad...
