Oh how these sights warm my heart.

Even though the powder and wadding make a loud noise, just imagine how all of it would've sounded with real, true charges with bullets and cannon rounds

@Bjerhof I know exactly what you mean! I have had school groups who when they find out that I am a confederate(they can't tell by my uniform) automatically start calling me a slave owner and a racist. I am constantly having to defend myself. Being a homeschooler, I am not brainwashed by a politically correct system (no offence to teachers) and I see more and more people my own age who have been completely brainwashed. It is very sad.

Those veterans are having fun with those gullible noobs!

Uch, hate the fact that people reenacting as the south seems to have to "defend" themselves and tell people they don't support slavery and all that...reckon it's the same with WW2 reenactors portraying as German troops...it's really sad.
Would love to try this out though!

The bad thing is that most events around the country are just like this (but not advetised as such.) The upcoming "festival" (I wont call it an event) at Manassas will be a great example of this. It is getting harder and harder to find good events that are primarily for educating the public. Things like this are perfectly acceptable (and a good time) but lets make the events that are supposed to be educational worth going to.
-
The thing about this event is, it is not advertised as any reenactment or living history about a particular event or group. It is an event hosted by reenactors for reenactors. It isn't really supposed to be authentic in any way. Basically it's just a good time for everyone to come together and see old pards. As a campaigner, I would typically turn my nose up at an event like this, but knowing what it is and what it's for helps me enjoy it as much as any of the folks on the screen.

Idk, could have left out all the bumper stickers, and the modern stuff.
Looked bad enough as it was.
I was liking the fife and drum, til the golfcart drove by....
Dang.
And they slapped on the title "A Living History"?
I guess if it makes those guys happy....

It's a doc on Reenacting, which is a modern activity. How then could the "modern stuff" possibly been left out--hence the golf cart driving by is meant to break the illusion established at the outset.
Anyways, I think you missed the point.
