HFH Uganda has traditionally (from 1982) built homes with families on a no interest loan (revolving fund) basis using Need for housing by partner families, ability to pay and family willingness to partner as its selection criteria. In 2007 however, HFH Uganda stated segregating its beneficiary families after a realization that some families i.e. the elderly, orphan-headed households and some widows, despite having a willingness to pay, were financially incapacitated. This realization led to the launch of the Orphans and Vulnerable Children program separate from the Housing Micro Finance program which as a loan component. HFHI/GreatLakesFilmProduction
