The 5sfte shown is running on a supra ct-26. It now has a t3/t4 50 trim turbo with an aeromotive a1000 fuel pressure regulator and a manual boost controller.... also stock clutch has been burned out. =(

  • 3s-gte for the win.

  • But I just beat my cousin's 3sgte MR2 not too long ago. We were both at 10psi. lol.

  • Hey Lo,

Its been a while, but i've finally got my parts for the build except for the injectors. Did the 7mgte injectors fit right in? (Im building this myself)

  • Yes, 7mgte injectors are a direct bolt on but you will need a resistor pack since they are low impedance. You will be better off with high impedance RX-7 460cc injectors. Don't know the part numbers off the top of my head, but do a search.

  • @LordLo turbo a 5s and it WILL go harder than the 3sgte's ^_^

  • @TheOmegaeyes the 5S-Fe Turbo Kit would be your best best if your on a budget because with the 3sgte you still need wiring engine mounts and so on its will cost 3k up while the 5S-Fe Turbo Kit can cust 2k down

  • i own a 93 5sfe mr2. lordlo what ems are you running? i'm trying to megasquirt 2 this engine but i cannot get a hold of anybody who has done this.

theres scootertech from mr2.com megasquirting a 5sfte(which is my final goal) but he no longer is active on the boards.

the local megasquirt vendor for los angeles closed shop.

    need help...seriously, are you available?

  • have you had any problems with the car?

  • @mostwanteddirkyboy anyone who knows the 3s series motors will tell you its a safer bet to just get a gte...

  • Nice man how much power are u making to the wheels

  • try getting yourself a 1st gen 3sge cylinder head and bolt on.... ull get the wide ports plus the extra displacement from the 2.2..... more air into the engine.... this will help u make better torque and horsepower. it's not an expensive upgrade. was gonna do that till my 5sfe crankshaft was wrecked... then i went for a 3sge 3rd gen which im thinking of turboing in the near future

  • Any one wants to buy a 91' mr2 5sfte with bad head rings???

  • @3rett1

That doesn'tmake any sense. You don't a "alot" of boost to high-compression engines and expect them to last; if you want to run big boost and expect lasting results, you use a low-compression base to start with. The '92 Callaway Corvette I used to drive blew copper headgaskets frequently until the heads were reworked to lower compression. The car made good, consistent HP after the headwork, and wasn't in the shop every month for headgaskets.......

  • So I've heard, thats why I want either a swap or low boost on the 5sfe. I'm not really sure what the cheaper route would be, I know I'd get a lot more horse power out of the 3sgte but I'm sure it would cost more and I'm quite poor, lol!
