In a race for a loose puck in Game 5 of the '08 Western Conference Quarters between the Ducks and Stars, Teemu Selanne gets there first, and Marty Turco tries to check him into the boards. No penalty is called on the play.

Selanne slips the check, and then can't score even with a goalie way out of position. Hell - I guess if he can't execute an empty-net wraparound, there's no way he'll get it by a desperate D-man guarding an open net, eh?

  • all of you are wrong. a player cant touch a goalie in the crease, a goalie outside the crease is considered fair play. that is the actual rule, but rarely does a ref enforce that, usually if you touch a goalie wherever he is they will call a penalty. this isn't a penalty

  • turco does the craziest shit.

  • Great save by that D

  • Everybody hates on turco, I fckn love him, he has like the best sense of humor ever, even though he doesnt take the game seriously, even if he losses the game for the team im happy. I think he should go to a team that has no chance of winning and just to entertain everybody, like the Islanders,.... either way stfu haters and let Turco play the game old school :)

  • hes lucky there was a guy there to save his ass between the pipes

  • @halo81312936 You are actually wrong. A goalie is never considered fair play or part of the play. "A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the goalkeeper." -Taken straight from the NHL rule book. My comment doesn't pertain to the situation in the video but rather your uneducated remark that a goalie outside his crease his fair play. You are wrong.

  • @SupaSpazProductions Or Ron Hextalls...although I didn't correctly see all the way through Hextall's hit, I'm pretty sure there was no penalty :p

  • The correct rule is actually if you interfere with the goalie making a save or from making a near future save. There's no rules about goalies hitting other players check out Tim Thomas's hit perfect example

  • turco always scared the hell out of all of us

  • WOOO

  • @halo81312936 yes but they probably wouldve waved it off if he scored

  • @halo81312936 The rule is incidental contact is permitted, but not intentional contact with the goalie by a skater. And the skater must try to avoid the hit. A goalie can hit a skater however.
