  • lets appreciate her.. i know her voice was cracked.. i know some of singers are retired and lack of vocal training and rest.. atleast she sang lively and trying to be more confident! - leah

  • I agree with you 100%!

  • The wigs have do go Donna! Bring back your 1979 afro!

  • Are you the Milton i met Thursday at Donna's private show in Manhattan? If you are i'm going to spank ya! If you're not then you have to go, not Donna's wig! :-)

  • I try to keep a low profile when I go to Private shows/screenings. So to answer your question, yes- it is I. But shush!

  • xoxoxo hey baby!!

  • Very few singers stand the test of time/ decades and usually their voices deteriorate. Mariah has had some poor vocal performances and so had Whitney. But it must be said it is very very rare and seldom that Donna Summer has a bad day and I must say that her voice seems to age like a good wine or whiskey. I even think her voice sounds smoother, rounder and warmer now than ever before. She is a goddess of a singer and unparalleled level of deliverance that never disappoints!

  • Donna will be 61 on Dec 31, 2009. At her age she can still sing her butt off. Mariah and Whitney can never do this live without having vocal or pitchy problems. Donna is one of the very few female singers left that can still sing a song well after 35 years in the music business. Donna Summer rocks!!!!

  • The Idol contestants can only hope they could have a voice like hers....

  • Considering the crack was toward the end of a long high belt, and given the consistently perfect live vocals she has delivered over the years, I think we can look past the hiccup at 1:40 and appreciate all the strengths of this performance.

  • True her voice did crack and waver a little @1:40 but I would challenge any of today's performers who are at least half her age to hold that note at that pitch and maintain a good standard of volume as long as Ms Summer can. Long vocal notes at that range are a typical feature of many of her 70's disco classics - few performers of today - even the best - attempt such a daring feat as this technique leaves far too much room for disaster!

  • @1musicencyclopedia she was born one day after mine :O my b-day ish Dec 30 :D

  • r u kiddin me? Even with lot of training I've seen very little performer hit this high notes without cracking.. Imagine this woman on her sixties doing this... I didn't think she was even going to try it!

  • If you sing live you know it's not easy no matter how good you are. Any number of things can go wrong with your voice which is not like a keyboard that stays in tune for every note. The sound onstage may be bad, she's probably very nervous, she might have sung 10 nights in a row and her voice is shredded. There are any number of reasons why she cracked, but if you listen to her sing the entire song her voice is still great. Mistakes happen. Big deal. She's still amazing!

  • This is my favorite version ever, There's something about the maturity of her voice.

  • luv it....

  • Donna has aged like a fine wine. Better with age...Dance on Donna...:-)

  • was expecting "I recall the yellow cotton dress..." for the second verse. Wonder why the third was in its stead?
