Tom Monahan's passage into so many genres of music is obviously influenced from his nomadic life as a child, singer songwriter, artist, designer and performer from the West Coast of the USA to the coffee houses of Amsterdam, who now resides in the North West of England.
It must be hard to focus on one. Here, he doesn't. Instead, he produces and brings rock, folk, jazz and classic balladry, whilst pulling music influences from bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Chase, Gil Scott Heron, Miles Davies, James Taylor, Roy Harper, Frank Zappa, Neil Young, Elvis Costello, The Eels and Beck.
A veteran performer in many bands over many years and fully in control of his career, producing his own music in the studio he has built on his rural property. Tom and his brother Mike have been writing and recording original music for 15 years here in the North West of England to the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada to the dizzy heights of their cabin in Utah.

Tom's performances, whether solo or within a band is as honest as his lyrics and music, you can't help but believe each word sung and even harder to resist is when you are drawn in to his beautifully crafted lyrics, guaranteed to melt both your heart and your soul. His passionate delivery and charmingly engaging, between-song banter compels you to fall under his spell. He commands the stage with ease and communicates his urban parables to a dedicated and growing following.

From the moment 'Desert Rose' opens Tom Monahan's second album, 'Wanderlust', you sense he's coming from a different place. When the drums and the electric guitars kick in on the song, 'Driven Faith', you know for sure. There's a strong, positive vibe atmosphere to the Spartan balladry of 'Hold On' that leaves the voice so exposed that the words lie against taught wire strings that reflects Tom's state of mind. It's there on 'Run Away', the single from the album and one of the most heartfelt songs that his brother Mike has ever written, moves you to the swell of the brass section that takes you away to 'Where is my Karma' a thought provoking song and approach to the state of the world today.

Tom's voice can move from pained expression to plaintiveness sometimes within the same line, on a back drop of intricate guitar work, Tom Monahan has the potential to be one of the most engaging of the current crop of singer songwriters, with a sound that is worthy of anyone's attention. He is currently performing at venues throughout the area, with a tour planned later in the Spring 2011.
