Finally, here is an new current video of my crossing signal system. As you can see, a few things have changed. For starts, the gate has moved to the 12" signal. The reason for that is that on xmas 2007, high winds took it out due to it having a cheap mast. After that, I moved the gate to the gateless 12" signal. Afetr I acquired a foundation off of eBay, I completely broke down my old 12" signal and built the one you see here. This one is completely prototypical as far as physical signal setup is concerned. In this video, it currently has a Safetran type 1 Electronic bell, Dialight 12" L.E.D.s on front, Standard Safetran 12" incandescents on the rear, and 3 RECO L.E.D. gate lights on a 30' Aluminum/Fiberglass gate. The gate is technically 30' 6.75" from center of mast to tip. The foundation goes about 3' 9" into the ground. The base holding the signal to the foundation is a US&S base with no cover. The Gate powers down from 0 degrees to 45 degrees. From 45 to 85 degrees, the gate falls by gravity, then goes into full snubb the rest of the 5 degrees. I have also interconnected my searchlight signal to change color accordign to the gate's position and weather the system is activated or not. That is obviously just for novelty. The accessory bell you hear is a WCH Type 1 Electronic Bell. Videos of inside the mech and of the system will come soon.

Enjoy.

  • Very nice. Where did you get the US&S base at? If Ebay, what did you search under to find it?

  • It came with the mech,I need a better one too, this one is bent up a bit, but still useable.

  • HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET A SAFETRAN TYPE 1 BELL!!!???

  • I like the Safetran Type 1 E-bell. They used to have one at the Campus Avenue crossing in Ontario, CA (I have the videos uploaded here already; see my videos if you want to watch). Sadly it was retired and now there's a new cantilever crossing with new bells in its place. My dad and I used to go to that crossing and film UP trains as thet went through at that spot mostly because the bell sounded cool. :D

  • That is a safetran type 1 e-bell

  • That is totally ridiculous, but in an awesome way! You took the RR crossing signal collection and kicked it up a notch.

  • Cool

  • Why are there fire alarm pulls and horns on the shed?

  • WOW. That is AWESOME!

  • Awesome!
