In the past I've had many requests to do a review on Coghlan's fuel tablets but I was never able to do one because they are not to be found anywhere around here and there was no was I was going to buy them on eBay and pay more for the shipping than what the tablets cost. Then last week bushcraftmaster12201 told me that a place called Vitacost.com (http://www.vitacost.com/Coghlans-Fuel-Tablets) was selling them at a reduced price. Checking out his lead I found that they indeed were selling them at a reduced price, $.99 instead of list price of $3.29, for a box of 24 tablets. So needless to say I put in an order for 5 boxes so I can try them out.

In this video I test them using my WetFire Stove that I got from Cheaper Than Dirt. I've done a couple of tests on this stove using WetFire tinder and Esbit cubes. You'll find links to these videos below.

Price comparison per cube:
Coghlan's Fuel tablet @ list price: $0.14
Coghlan's Fuel tablet @ sale price: $0.04
WetFire Tinder: $1.00
Esbit cube: $0.70

weight comparison per cube:
Coghlan's Fuel tablet: 7g = .20 oz = .014 lb
WetFire Tinder: 5g = .15 oz = .01 lb
Esbit cube: 15g = .5 oz = .094 lb

  • Check out sternos or canned heat.

  • Do they smell while burning?

  • Just ordered 5 boxes = 120 tablets for under 10.00. Thanx Hiram

  • 5/5

  • This is a fantastic show because I have played with these tablets. All the information so far has been bang on! I am going to guess that two tablets will bring two cups to a boil but will not boil it long enough to make water safe. For that you will need three tablets. Now to watch the next video to see what you have found.

  • wow thank you soooo much for the review also what i use to light it is a cottonball under the tablet

  • wow thank you soooo much for the review
