This is a video I just found that I made before I finally fixed the laser table and got it all working properly. It basically outlines the parts a little bit better and shows a few closeups but I think the resolution on YouTube isn't the best for showing all the fine details. Sorry about my accent as I think some of you will find me hard to understand. I've been to America and Canada before and found 50% of the people couldn't understand a word I was saying. :-)
I hope this better outlines what is involved in the table.
Rich.

  • What can you cut with this?

  • @mikejoslin510 .....Well, after the 100 watt laser upgrade I can cut Wood at about 16mm thick, Acrylic about 20mm thick (but wouldn't like to pay for it) plastic BUT not any steels or metals.

I can burn a hole through the 0.6mm stainless steel top but not cut any shapes. If I put an Oxygen assist then I could probably cut stainless steels about 1mm thick but very slowly.. Thanks for asking. :-)

  • So, if you wouldn't mind messaging me, why won't an A/C capacitor bank charged from the wall with a resistor right onto a diode set in a waveguide work?

  • Actually, I have no idea as I am not a technician. Wish I was though. Are you talking about Nd:YAG lasers or the CO2 lasers?

I really don't think I can help you out here, sorry.

    Rich.

  • great work!

  • "Suppose so top everything from catching fire" .. classic!

  • @valordk I cant make an url work in the comments. Try cnczone and search for "Backyard Laser "

  • I'd also like to see a build log, so much stuff to learn. Well done!

  • Great build. Do you have a "Build log" somewhere? And where did you find the lens assembly?

  • impressive! I bet you keep your fingers away from the beam between the mirrors!
