Is it time to try again to understand the brain and engineer the mind? In his keynote panel talk at the MIT150 Symposia on Brains, Minds and Machines Jeff Hawkins presents the key developments that lead to an answer to this question - a detailed brain theory and development of machines that work on these principles. We now have a detailed brain theory based on the principles of Sparse Distributed Representations, real neuron models, and hierarchy. Jeff discusses how Numenta is using these principles in the Cortical Learning Algorithms to learn spatial and temporal structure in data.
