The 12 Days of Christmas a conductor's nightmare
(higher resolution version)
An even higher resolution version can be downloaded from:
http://www.dwsolo.com/serif/highresvideos.html

This choral spoof on the 12 Days of Christmas, composed and performed by David W Solomons,
is available for male voice choir (ATBarB) and for mixed choir (SATB)
free of charge from:
http://www.archive.org/details/Dwschorale2005-05-05.the12DaysOfChristmasACond...

The cartoon animation was created, from a "choirboy" caricature of the composer by "Dale", by David Marsh (Paramolehill)
some of whose other cartoons can be seen here:
http://smce-cartoon.wikispaces.com/David+Marsh

The words (taking the last verse) are
...on the twelfth day of Christmas the choir processed in song

and twelve candles dripped

eleven altos flipped

and ten lines were clipped

and nine gins were sipped

and eight crept to the crypt

and seven hymn books slipped

and six basses quipped

and five sang in tune!

and four cassocks ripped

and three lost their script

and two tenors tripped

and the soloist got it all wrong.

  • how did you do the drawings?

  • @12783USAGRL Hi, the original drawing was a caricature by a street artist called Dale (I've tried to contact him but in vain). The cartoon animation was done by a friend, David Marsh who has a large number of cartoons online at smce[hyphen]cartoon[dot]wikispaces[dot]com

  • For the use of SATB choirs who wish to use a midi file for practice purposes, I have now included a midi file in the myscorestore page (free download)

  • @notnsanetoothpick Hi - will a midi file in the key you are doing it be of any use to you? Let me know your email address (via the YouTube messaging service) and I'll send you one. I'll be interested to hear yuor choir sing it in due course :-)

  • @kyrio5a If my choir successfully learns this song, I'd be more than happy to get a vid up here, or if one of my friends puts the video up, I'll let you know. : ) just comment me after you read this.
