Our puppy has learned some strange commands. "Who's that" means there's someone or something interesting near the house, and Sophie needs to investigate. "Who's here" means there's someone coming into the house. Either way, she goes nuts. She's our princess!

  • Are you sure she is a pedigree?

Looks a little off for a papillon?

    Cute though

    The cat is gorgeous!

  • She's 100% Papillon. Registered and pedigreed. She's definitely larger than most, though some of that comes from her stealing her brother's food. We try to keep that to a minimum, but he hardly eats a thing.

  • My 4 months pap has been scratching his ears a lot the last few days. He shakes his head, scratches his ears, even whines a little. We took him to the vet and they could not find anything. They sedated him so they can look into both ears carefully and his ears are clean, no water, no mite, no wax, absolutely clean. Could it be that the itching come from the new hair grown in and around his ears at 4-5 months of age? Do you have that experience with your pap when they were pups?

  • I can't say we've had that experience. The only thing even close to that was a spider bite (happened twice). Sophie got really itchy for a day and her face swelled up. A few very low doses of Benadryl did the trick.

If the vet doesn't find anything, I'd let it be. If you get the sense that scratching his ears feels good, then give his ears a little extra attention. I'm sure everything's fine (but I'm no vet, so don't take this as medical advice! :) ).

  • I have a three a half months old papillon. How large to they get when full grown? Twice the size they are now or more?

  • Yes, I recall you getting him. I've heard 6-10 lb. and 8-12 lb. from different sources. Sophie is fully (over)grown at ~14 lb., and Max is now 8-1/2 months old and he's roughly 4.5 lb. and will probably barely reach five. Check the weights of the parents. That's a good indicator. It seem (though I have no evidence) that smaller litters produce smaller dogs, and vice versa. Sophie came from a litter of 4. Max was a litter of 1. So there you have it :)
