The gluts (also known as the butt or backside muscles) are a group of three muscles. The largest of which is the Gluteus Maximus.
This muscle can become weak with certain types of posture as well as if the hamstrings become too strong and dominant.
This video shows some ways to activate and start strengthening the Gluteus Maximus.

i've been suffering from piriformis/butt pain for years and my recent PT told me about the glute max and IT band.
