RPM 09 #3: A Tough Year

"A Tough Year," original song with a bridge based on "Canticle to the Sun" by St. Francis of Assisi. One of my songs for the 2009 RPM Challenge (http://www.RPMChallenge.com). "This is The Challenge - Record an album in 28 days, just because you can. Thats 10 songs or 35 minutes of original material recorded during the month of February. Go ahead put it to tape." I recorded and mixed this and 10 other songs in less than a week.

Its been a tough year my girl
But at least we still have each other
Changed jobs, lost some friends
Funeral, fights, and bad weather
When we drink it just makes us sleepy
Crows feet cant stay up late
My clothes dont seem to fit right
And birthdays no one wants to celebrate
But at least we still have each other

Its been a tough year again
I guess it means were getting older
Giving up on a dream doesnt hurt
Its like a weight off your shoulders
When I think of novels we wont have time to read
I get depressed standing in bookstores
We look forward to the seasons
But our friends watch more TV than ever before (television)

It takes time and time again to learn
