It's easy to look back now and say Windows95 was better, but at the time people were glad to see it upgrade to 98 (a good version) and wanted better things:a richer-looking desktop, a better media experience, better tools, and Win 95 doesn't have them stripped down or not.
Old computers are good, but Windows 95 was only good in 95. My old 'made for Win95' box now runs Puppy Linux which is smaller than Win 95 and 10 times richer.

windows 95 is SOO old! try xp x64 on a pc with 8 gigs RAM and intel core i9 (when it commes out). NOW thats fast!!!

few typos in last comment, i now have 4 cores and fine xp runs super fast but cant find all my 4gb or ram, limits of the os, so i will get win 7 when out of beta

omg all wrong depends on the hardware, if u have 4+ cores YOU NEED 64BIT os SO VISTA or win7, anything less than 4 cores xp is bestall round, and less than 1 ghz try xp if not then go to 98 2nd edition,
but a p3 900mhz and even a p2 233 runs fine xp just cut it down with a program b4 installing it, gt rid of drivers udont need and progs u never use,
my 1st ever pc was a 166mmx p1, ran 98 2nd fine upped it to xp and didnt like it went to p2 233 and ran fine, now in on 4 cores, 64bit os best

furthermore, linux and OS X you can use a geforce MX with 1 Ghz P4 setup to work and look like Aero. I just don't get that MS would just leave XP and switch to a buggy system. Viruses on XP, sure its a given because more people uses the windows platform, let's say for instance that the majority of users are OS X then apple would also have the same amount of viral attack that of windows has now eg: iphone jailbreaks and hacks.
