House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, MD (just outside of Washington DC) is a dealer for Weber Mandolins. Here we have Mark Sylvester, one of our teachers, demonstrating the Bitterroot A-Style Octave Mandolin. This model features a solid spruce top, solid maple back & sides, mahogany neck, radiused ebony fingerboard, Brekke adjustable ebony bridge and a beautiful aged toner satin finish.

There have been lots of ooohs and aaahs over this octave mando since it's been in our shop. Currently tuned G-D-A-E but sounds great in alternate tunings. Fantastic resonance and powerful tone. Perfect for Celtic music and many other styles too. Handmade in Montana.

This model has a list price of $2,599 including hardshell case. To inquire about availability and price, please contact HMT directly at hmtmail@hmtrad.com or 301-270-9090, or visit our website at www.hmtrad.com.

To find out more about Mark Sylvester, visit www.marksylvester.net. Inquiries on lessons with Mark (he teaches guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass) can be made to House of Musical Traditions.

Video produced by Glenn Tucker with audio engineered by HMT's in-house engineer and pro audio repairman Trevor Higgins.

  • What tune is being played?

  • This is not any particular song, just a little snippet that Mark said he'd been messing around with. Thanks for your interest.

  • Awesome tone!! Nice job demonstrating this beautiful Weber.

  • Gorgeous sound. Can I ask what strings were used?

  • wow those are nice haha i like the sound and it looks great as well

  • @brycecake2 probably GDAE, octave mandolin standard tuning

  • do you what tuning is bein used

  • Any opions on the MICHAEL KELLY Legacy Elegante Mandolin

  • what about Andy Irvine with his Andylin ?

  • Octave Mandolins are tuned one octave lower than a Mandolin with 4 unison courses. I believe that the two higher courses on the bouzouki are tuned in octaves. Therefore they are not the same.
