Gene Cernan was not in group 2 he was in class 3. Also the first Gemini 3 crew was to be Al Shepard and Tom Standford.. they got pulled after Al suffered a health issue that also caused Standford to be pulled from the mission.

Interesting to see McDivitt, Borman, and Young being interviewed. It's so rare to see those three. More often it's Aldrin, Cernan, or Lovell.

ok so you think as there is no moon base now then that means man never went in the first place? thats just daft. Its an incrediba;y expensive thing going to the moon and the main reason NASA got the funding to go to the moon in the first place was so they can beat the russians there. After they did with apollo 11 there were major cutbacks as the didnt seam much reason to go back. Flights were canceled cause of funding cuts. The expense is why we never persisted and why there is no moon base
