Groovy. (-: My favorite one was "All My Loving" cause that's my favorite Beatles song.

Is there a book of scales and finger exercises? I always had that routine with the classical guitar. Just got the book A LITTLE BITTY TEAR by John Sackenheim. Awesome songs and easy tab. Think I will begin memorizing in this book! They are oldies but goodies..Can use the one and a half fret in some and substitutions if you do not have that fret! Check it out..think you might like it.

@gabbyfla100 Thanks! No, I don't have a finger exercise book, I probably would be too lazy to use it if I did, like with my other instruments ;)

Thank you for the tips! I am going to do exactly that! Makes sense. My very fast music and tab reading has been an obstacle for me I believe! Thanks!!!! Are these from the Beatles dulcimer book? I have that one!!! ENjoyed it. How long have you been playing. How much to you practice? One problem I have is that I obsessively download tab and have way too much music ..so I have put most of it away and will pick one and try your way!!!!
Thanks

@gabbyfla100 All 3 of these songs are from Hal Leonard Dulcimer Series, "Hits of the Beatles by Neal Hellman" I've been playing dulcimer now about 3 years, but I do play other instruments, so that helps. I think just 10 minutes a day practicing helps, some performers practice 1-3 hrs a day. I am bad about not practicing every day, I have a time management problem. So don't do as I do, do as I say ;) If you practice scales & finger exercises, you will soon be playing much better than me!

how did you learn to memorize music? It is difficult for me and I am glued to the music! Thanks for any tips!

@gabbyfla100 I've been told that playing from music and playing by ear use different sides of the brain. So if you continue to look at the music while playing, you will never learn it. What you need to do is look at one measure at a time, turn away to look at your instrument, play that until you have it memorized, then keep adding a few more measures this way until you know the whole song. You will be memorizing the look of where your fingers go on the fretboard instead of the written notes.
