Dr. Kwan features Neuromuscular Dentistry and the Pure Power Edge Mouthguard on Local Sacramento Fox 40 Morning Show.

'The Edge,' the technological wonder that is making big news by enabling star athletes to perform at unprecedented levels, is now being offered by Dr. Arthur Kwan, a renowned neuromuscular dentist from Rocklin, California.

The revolutionary mouth guard is helping Milwaukee Bucks star shooting guard, Michael Redd, take his game to new heights. By holding his jaw in a position that allows his jaw and neck muscles to completely relax, The Edge is literally giving Redd an edge in strength, balance and flexibility.

"I've been using the mouth guard for about a month and a half now, and I noticed a big difference instantaneously," says Redd. "It was incredible, and blew my mind away. The results speak for themselves."

Redd is currently training for the Beijing Olympics. To win the gold medal, the U.S. will be relying in part on Redd's ability to shoot the basketball and score points. Redd feels The Edge has helped take his shooting game to a new level. "More explosion, more power, more range of motion in the shot. I can definitely feel a difference."

Dr. Kwan, a specially trained neuromuscular dentist, says that years of research went into designing the mouth guard. "It begins with looking at how the body functions as a whole," he says. "Over 90% of the population has an overbite, and one of the negative effects of an overbite is that it causes muscle tension. When the neck and jaw muscles are tense, the body can't perform at its peak. Strength is lost and balance is diminished. So on the most basic level, what The Edge does is allow the body to perform at its absolute peak, in a purely natural way."

To achieve this kind of efficiency, athletes who are interested in using The Edge must be fitted by specially trained and licensed neuromuscular dentists, such as Dr. Kwan. Kwan says that the key to getting the perfect fit is the use of state-of-the-art equipment which monitors the condition of the jaw muscles so that a dentist can determine where the optimal bite position is.

"Once we know where the optimal bite position is, we can then fit the mouth guard," he says. "So whenever they put the device in their mouth, it will hold their jaw in the perfect position, freeing up the rest of the body to perform at it's best."
