A humorous documentary about Balrog wings.
(edited on Pinacle Studio 9, shot with a Panasonic camcorder, and performed by various Tolkien aficionados)

  • The names of commentators should be more apparent. These names are blurred in this version of the video, at least.

  • That's strange, I uploaded the best version I had. I'll see if I can fix it. :)

  • This film would be quite amusing if it wasn't for the fact that every one of the geeky 'experts' in this film pronounces the word 'Balrog' wrong. Dumb yanks.

  • Err... o.o

  • "like two vast wings" is a similie, not a metaphor. If Tolkien had intended it to have wings, he would have written, "he reached out with his shadowy wing" or the like. Lol.

  • Only a few ppl ever catch that about the similie ;)

  • i think balrogs should have wings and becuase of its eminse size it couldnt fly verywell

sort of like a beached whale can flop around becuase it crushes its own lungs due to the size but good question!

  • I agree with davidhrom. Also,I never accepted any visual representation of a balrog. The one from the LOTR movie, for example, was corny and childish

  • It is as redpoet7 said! But i love the vid!

  • I think that balrogs as Maiar could change his appearance and so they can have wings, but do not have to.
