I've loved this song for around 30+ years and it's simply awesome! Just a pure pop ballad but there's something WEIRD about this song....as though it should have been in the "WICKER MAN" or something? Imagine sitting round a campfire listening to this back in the early 70s rolling a (you know what..) and smoking it as though it's your very last! - Love the line "Watch the clouds sail by inside my head" infact this song is SO far out, EVERY verse in this song sends me in a quiver. It's the flipside of their pop hit "WHEN I'M DEAD AND GONE" but man....this side is TOO much! Lovely harmonys and a nice clip-clop-pop beat. Just turn this sound up, close your eyes and you'll forget the problems of the world. you'll simply FLOAT along forever and believe it's still 1970! A VERY underated pop ballad this, well done Mr.McGuinness Flint.
"Produced by Glyn Johns" ..... well, no wonder it's good: Glyn Johns will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland (as a non-performer) in April, 2012.

A HUGE thank you for posting this fabulous song!
I've still got the 45 of this, the B side of When I'm Dead And Gone.
I was really knocked out when I eventually flipped over the A side and heard this, what a little gem of a song!
The line that goes "all night thinking how she threw my love aside" has stuck in my head for, what is it now, 40 years!, bloody hell!

On this and several other tracks, McG-F blended electric guitars and brass instruments in an effective and haunting manner that was pretty much unique to them. How one wishes they'd been able to keep it together for another few years.
