Leukemias are cancers of the blood - what scientists call "liquid tumors" -- unlike the solid tumors in the tissues attacked by other cancers. George Daley has dedicated his career to cracking the mysteries of leukemia. He has had limited success and is now doing research on the use of stem cells from a patient's bone marrow.
All 50 Secrets of the Sequence videos have an accompanying classroom-tested lesson that encourages students to further explore the video topics. Each lesson includes background information, state and national science standards, discussion questions and answers, teacher notes and an activity that will ensure a hands-on, "minds-on" experience. My friend died of leukemia a month ago. She was only 28. I can't stop watching all these vids about blood cells and bone smallow and I can't stop thinking that probably there was a way to save her that we didn't know.
I wish all people with leukemia to go into remission and live a long life and I wish their relatives and friends to be strong.

MY Niece was just diagnosed, she has begun treatment already. Its spreading fast, along with the treatment as we all, or most know, comes hair loss. My older brother and myself have been growing our hair for a combined 23 years. she said :"uncle am I going to go bald?" My brother and I said, " No cj and if you do me and uncle will give you our hair." She is only 11 years old. I never knew an 11 y.o can make a grown man cry.

this is really good to learn about leukemia. my little sister had leukemia when she was one or two and has been in remission for almost 5 years now. the doctors said that at seven years she should be out of remission and healthy, and no more hospital checkups! =D but because she was so young it might come back. we hope that it wont, and so far it hasnt! im so happy people have posted videos that educate about leukemia! now they can see how it works, and maybe even help cure leukemia victims =]

Good luck with your treatment. I have been through it and know that it can be horrendous - but the chance of long-term success is real.

Question please email : I have had a high white blood cell count around 19,000 every blood test for the last five or more years. I have every symptom for CLL however, my doctor says I'm too young for CLL, and the reason for my high white blood count is due to high stress can this be true?

I have leukemia. It is painful and not an experience I'd wish on any person good or bad. By looking at bone marrow samples my doctors hope by next week that I might have gone into remission after my first round of Chemo therapy, I hope it ends soon. -Annika Nelson (age 15)
