@charlesbrooks Thanks so much!! This has helped quite a bit! I'm playing this as one of the excerpts for an audition for the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra! Along with Strauss' Ein Heldenleben.......they are not the easiest.....but i'm trying my best!! And thats all you can do. Thanks again for the advice!

There are some problems with this take - My opening tempo is not the same speed as the runs that follow (it's too slow). Also the intonation is questionable every time I shift down from 4th position. They dynamics are OK but the Mic flattens them out - it should sound softer in the piano sections! Slightly squeaky A string crossings also... I might see if i can re-record this sometime soon.

so i'm working on this exact except.....how do i keep up the bow stroke and make sure my fingers are matching with the bow?! It's so fast........

@BassClefButterfly It's a fun excerpt! There's really no way except to build the speed up slowly with a metronome. I start each day around 90 and go up about 5 BPM per time until I start making mistakes. As soon as mistakes come it I slow it down, play it again a couple of times and then stop for the day. Next day I start slow again and hopefully get slightly faster before the mistakes come... As you get above about 115 you need to alter your bow stroke. Look for the David Finkel Spiccato video!
