@lastrada52 yes what a loss that was to us all.

When Elvis was inspired no one in rock could touch him. He should have done more blues -- an entire album with guests like BB King, Eric Clapton, even John Mayall, and any black veteran of the blues like Muddy Waters. Elvis was friends with James Brown -- they should collaborated. What an incredible document it would have been. Instead, we are fortunate to have samples like "Down in the Alley," "Reconsier Baby," "A Mess of Blues," and this one.

We're listening to late 50's early very early 60's recording here. It how " real " music sounds. More than likely done on 4 tracks.

Written by Jesse Stone. Elvis recorded it April 3, 1960 at RCAs Nashville studios. It is available on Elvis is Back, Return of the Rocker, Collectors Gold, From Nashville to Memphis-The Essential 60s Masters, and Artist of the Century, which is where this version is from.
