It wasn't the newcomers that attacked the family...it was the other way around.....the newcomers simply landed then the gander of the family immediately went after them. When they have families geese are very territorial and want a lot of space for their family. The newcomers even could have been previous children of the goose parents. Often parents are just verry touchy for awhile when raising their small goslings and don't want any other geese near.
