a medical student teaching video on heme catabolism, bilirubin metabolism in the liver. Particularly useful in understanding the difference between direct and indirect bilirubin and why they differ in hemolytic anemias

  • awesome, thanks!

  • Thanks

  • conjugated bilirubin is converted into urobilinogen by gut bacteria right? And none is reabsorbed without conversion? Does anyone know how much urobilinogen (%) is reabsorbed into blood and how much is excreted in feces? And from the blood, how much goes back into the liver for recycling and how much is excreted in the urine? Thanks! Can't find the answer anywhere

  • mdsc 3311 sucks

  • thank you !

  • thank you this was very helpfuland like to also include: In the intestine, bacterial flora deconjugate and reduce bilirubin to compounds called stercobilinogens .

  • Incredibly useful! Thank you.
