Shrodinger's cat was meant to be an reductio ad absurdum. It was supposed to explain how absurd the hypothesis is that a subatomic particle in isolation could act in ways that are not understood. The problem is that we are all stuck with experimental results that we don't understand under current models. So we need to dig deeper until we can understand the mystery of why subatomic particles behave the way that they do. Until then, we are stuck with a cat that is both dead and alive. cheers..

No, he proposed the idea. He never actually stuffed cats into radioactive boxes.

The theory suggests that if you put a cat in a box with a gas bomb that has a 50% chance of going off and then leave the box for 24 hours, you wont know if the bomb went off and killed the cat until you opened the box. Until you open the box, the cat is in a state of both being alive and being dead until the box is opened and nature is forced to show you either a living cat or a dead cat.

Snarky is correct. This is basically expanding on the paradox. The cat is both alive and dead at the same time, even after the box was opened. And since the cat is this state of limbo, it ignores the laws of physics (which it already broke by being alive and dead at the same time)

Think of it as a scifi plot in which an experiment goes wrong when the impossible becomes possible.
