New Day in Race Relations group visits Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
"Our mission together is to create a new day of spiritual unity and cultural understanding between blacks and whites through the shared Christian values of respect, trust, and love; modeling these values individually and corporately by overcoming ignorance and fear, by confronting issues of poverty and power, and by recognizing, engaging and celebrating our difference."
As part of that mission, churches from throughout the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, gathered on October 9 at First Rock Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., to visit the Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial, followed by a celebratory worship service. Bucas Sterling, senior pastor of Kettering Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, Md., brought the keynote address. The powerful occasion celebrated Martin Luther King Jr.'s sacrificial effort to bring Christian brothers and sisters together in Christ's love.
