He's not stringing it upside-down, but merely taking a properly-strung right-handed guitar and flipping it upside-down. So the low-E is on the bottom, with high-E on top. Doyle Bramhall II plays the same way....... backwards.

While he's actually right handed, his brother who is left-handed learned him to play guitar on the left-handed way
