What device are you referring to? For this tutorial, you need a PC that has GNS3 running on it, as well as any other network element (any switch, router, firewall, etc).

() will trunk links work in gns3 and real switch? I notice that fa ports on gns3 are running half duplex so are we gonna use cross cable instaed of straight?

Yes. Trunk Links should work fine, but this depends on the drivers of your NIC. Make sure that you check with the manufacturer website that the drivers (Windows, Mac, or Linux) should have IEEE 802.1Q supported.

As for the duplex mismatch, you may have configured one interface to be hard-coded whereas the other is set to auto-negotiation. See if changes these settings at the interface level will eliminate any duplex mismatch issues.
