@hearditman So true, Bang A Gong was not even close to the best song on the recording, IMHO. I loved this one the best and it HAS stood the test of time. Man, could Bolan lay down some licks? And Flo and Eddie are the PERFECT backup singers. This was some magic being laid down, wish I could have been in the studio for this!

@killerbacteria1 It sounds more like a Strat, which would make sense... According to Visconti, he used a Strat for most of EW (despite a pic of him with the Les Paul on the cover). The Slider was mostly a LP - a heavier, more contained sound. Anyway, no matter what guitar Bolan used, EW has some of the best guitar tones ever recorded, and Monolith is one of the best examples.

truly a great musician,this track is blues rock heaven..thank you for posting my fav all time track from the boppin elf himself...i would die with a smile on my face listening to the improvised guitar lick and bass line of this wondrous tune.lost like a lion in a canyon of smoke...no joke....xxxxx r.i.p marc.xxxx
