http://www.CommercialProduction.tv Hello. I'm Bill Bevalander with Newsline TNN, with the picture that clearly shows, contrary to other reports, that the 27th batter facing Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga was undeniably safe. The umpire's call was correct, and Armando Galarraga did not throw the 21st perfect game in the history of major league baseball. I'll have the full story and evidence in a moment. But first let me give a hearty thank you to the good people at MajorLeagueVideo.com, who graciously allowed us to use their beautiful studio on short notice for this story. I hope I won't be embarrassing them by plugging the remarkable deal they offer on their gorgeous website video productions for businesses for only $399, but they richly deserve the recognition both for their help to us, and for offering the best video on the internet at a cost savings to their clients of thousands of dollars. Now back to the story. The consensus around the baseball world is that umpire Jim Joyce blew the call at first base with two outs in the 9th, causing Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga to lose what would have been a perfect game. But take a look at this picture we've uncovered. As you can see, the pitcher's foot was on the first base bag BEFORE the foot of the hitter. How could the hitter be expected to hit the base, when Galarraga was blocking him. The hitter was awarded first base for interference, and it was the right call. It should be noted that major league baseball umpires make upwards of 300 calls every game, and they get many of of them correct. And when they make mistakes, whether deliberately or not, it can enhance the experience for us all. Case in point. Two nights ago, the Tampa Bay Rays faced the Toronto Blue Jays in a game at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Toronto first led five to nothing, then led 5-3 going ito the ninth, and were poised to uneventfully close out the game. That's when plate umpire Angel Hernandez sprung into action, heroically refusing to call a strike, squeezing first Blue Jays reliever Jason Frasor, then closer Kevin Gregg, despite the fact that both pitchers were painting the black. Due entirely to his own selfless actions, umpire Hernandez was able to single-handidly determine the outcome of the game, allowing the home team to hit in the bottom of the inning. Although Toronto lost a game they would have won, and the fans went home unhappy, they were able to experience an extra half inning of big league baseball, thanks entirely to an umpire. So cut the umpires some slack. Many of their calls are correct.
