Alone in the Dark appeared in 1992 and it is considered responsible for the boom of the survival horror genre. He made enormous success with its dark story concerning the occult. 3 more games were released before Alone in the Dark Inferno.
______________________________________________________________________
In New Generation, especially in the PS3, the series debut in style with beautiful graphics, soundtrack (of a Grammy Award winner) and with huge innovations to the genre. In the PS3 they fixed bugs that existed into the others platforms. Do not forget to check my REVIEW (soon) for more details.
______________________________________________________________________
Here, you are Edward Carnaby, the same detective of 1920s of the first Alone in the Dark (released in 1992). You wake up inside a room of a huge building in New York. You're out of memory, and listens a group of people talking about a stone and the path of light. Crowley is one of those people and their henchmen, wich pursues you throughout the game. The building you are inside starts to fall apart and come into flames. Panic is general. To make matters worse, malignant manifestations begin to appear at the same time that innocent people are beginning to die, others possessed.
______________________________________________________________________
In the midst of this chaos, you find a "researcher of art" and will share the adventure with her. You also find a middle age gentleman (Theo) with the much talked about stone. The 3 together finds a car and get outside of the building, providing one of the most impressive and beautiful scenes ever seen to date in a survival horror: "ESCAPE FROM 52th STREET. In the end, the car crash in the beautiful and enigmatic CENTRAL PARK. Theo give you the mysterious stone, and that the salvation of the end of the world is in your hands.
______________________________________________________________________
From here, you will explore beautiful places indoors (like the museum) and outdoors (the huge field of the park). With a lot of research, you discover that Lucifer, when deposed of Heaven, built an artifact to trap his soul and corrupt the owner of the stone. Some years ago you found this artifact, and so you were granted eternal life in exchange of Lucifers services. In a given point of the game you receive a file that even insinuated that Edward Carnaby entered a nightclub and killed some people inside, the police failed to capture the killer. But knows he have a scar in the left side of his face...just like you.
_____________________________________________________________________ The stone was split into two parts. You have to find the owner's other half and attach them to confront the evil incarnated (Lucifer) and end with the apocalypse. The game focuses on Central Park because the light path (path to the other half of the stone) was built exactly underground the park. It is up to you to complete the prophecy. Maybe it's the beggining of the end of the world?

  • U seem to have fun with these.

  • Oh yes (MaefGalaxies): workout, sex, music, beach and games are things that really kept my intention. After a workout, followed by some sex...what to do next? Relax in front this so incredible and live games...that most of the times...act like an interactive movie... Try it some day...go buy a PS3.

  • @TheGamerClubber If I didn't know any better, that sounded like the biggest advertisement to me.

  • @Garmose: So true, investments into this Alone in the Dark game to advertising/publicity was very expensive. And it also worked. The hype around this game was very high. In the opposite direction, Demon's Soul's RPG for PS3 didn't received so much money to spent in publicity...Sony didn't believed so much into this game...and funny thing is, it sold more than 200milions copys in USA and JAPAN, followed by more than 100milion in Europe. The expectation was to sold 80milion worldwide.

  • i went back and played it and i still stand by that statement partially, i think the character models looked better.

anyway we can all agree that the ps2 version had atrocious graphics.

  • To (dante1562): Yeah, CodeVeronica is awesome too. But if you're telling the graphics are better, dude - drop it. Don't trip. Play the game and you'll see the extreme differences. Nowadays Veronica is too "square" - the models of characters. They don't have that technology that makes the body roll, the explosions are terrible compared to a car exploding in Alone. And what about the building collapsing? I love Veronica, 1, Remake (hate 5 with those action). But dude, GRAPHICS are way better here!

  • weren't the greatest?! i'm sorry i played Resident Evil : Code Veronica witch came out in 2001 and it looked better than that.

  • I agree when you (PolishRonin) talks that the PS2 version is cool. Yes, it is, all those inovative ideas are there. Its a game really worth checking out. And dude...PS3 version is better cause of graphics, checkpoints added, clean soundtrack, addition of a boss batlle sequence in Episode 6, Episode 2 is fucking awesome and cinematic compared to PS2. But I do agree with you cause, no matter what console system you have, definitely worth check it out. But...yes...PS3 version is better.

  • Honestly... i loved the ps2 version. I know it had bugs, and the graphics werent the greatest, but it had that realistic feel to it (no hud, aiming required holding the L1 button).. when i played the ps3 demo it felt different.. and i dont mean better. But im getting the ps3 version next month just to play it and see how it is :)
