  • I love this album - particularly the classic 'Vera cruz'. 'Stories to Tell' is thankfully available on CD. I eagerly scan hoping someone will post 'Open your eyes - you can fly'. These musicians really were 'magicians'..

  • I have that lp and will post soon. I love Flora and have always appreciated her artistry.

  • If allowed to, I'm sure the feedback will be high. To touch on just one aspect, I've lost count of the number of times the opening bassline ( Alfonso Johnson ) has been sampled, in music, TV promotions, etc.

( Lizz Wright's full offering is really good, and all be it different, some lovely basswork.)Congats on all of your postings to date.

  • She did some jail time for drug possession and "Open Your Eyes-You Can Fly" was her liberation song. I just dig her whole set. She's a survivor, an artist, and just soooo sexy . I did have the privilege of seeing her and her husband Airto here in Philly at Univ of Penn and they gave a tremendous show. They were so intimate with the audience. Airto is a genius!

  • Raul De Souza on trombone. Great album. I bought this when in came out and wore it out.

  • Great song and album! Even if the Elis Regina version has this "mystic extra flair", this is groovey as hell and 'tho light as a feather. *LOL*

  • This is a song that presses one to listen to it, at the very least, 3 to 4 times. More and more colour and beauty comes pouring out after each and every listen. I love when Flora is playing along with the horn at about 1:38

Thank you for sharing this one.

  • if this does set you in motion go see your doctor immediately

  • When I first heard this, much as I like Flora and that whole band, all them cats, to me the best version is by, beleive it or not, Brazil 66.

Off the Fool on the Hill album. Check it out. It's around here, I just don't know how to throw up a video response yet'

    Same song, Brazil 66

  • @ALEREVAN OOOhh yeah! That trombone is IT ! I was a 25 year old girl when I first heard this in 1976 and it hit me where it counts! It's a faaaabulous tasty piece of music. Especially where it comes in at 1:32. I was a jammin 25 year old !
