In the world of off-road RC vehicles, 1/5-scale buggies and trucks are the definitive kings of the hill. Drivers all around the world have been clamoring for the folks at Losi to develop a car or truck to play in this large-scale arena—and it's finally here. After much rumor and speculation, Losi has announced their entry into giant-scale off-road with the Losi® 5IVE-T™ off-road truck. Based on the wildly successful 8IGHT™ 2.0 1/8-scale buggy, the 5IVE-T takes the platform in a bigger direction than previously imagined.
Those familiar with the legacy and history of Losi will recognize Gary Kyes as one of the best drivers the US has ever produced. Gary has seen and done it all and has loaned his vision and experience to the 5IVE-T development. We were able to sit down with Gary to learn about everything that has gone into the design and development of the 5IVE-T. A truck this massive deserves a massive preview and we're here to provide the most comprehensive look inside this big rig you'll find anywhere. From chassis and suspension details to a look into the materials used, killer running footage and more, we have all the dirt on the 5IVE-T. Due to the overall length and detail, we are providing you with two different ways to view the preview video. The first is the traditional way for you to be able to watch the preview in its complete form. The second version will allow you to skip around to specific sections of the video, discussing various sections of the truck. We hope you enjoy our exclusive inside look at this monster from Losi—the 5IVE-T!

  • Is there going to be a optional Reavers for the 5Ive-T

I know it will add some more weight but it will be wherth it, and more fun

  • @3gomer I don't understand your question, what is a Reaver?

  • @HorizonRCdotCom I think he meant reverse.

  • @57mike571970 Ah, yeah, I can see that. There are no plans for a reverse-gear option for the 5IVE-T at this time.

  • Dose that exhaust just get dumped out inside the body?

  • @lawnmowerdude Yes and no. There is enough of a gap between the exhaust stinger and the inside of the body that it really doesn't collect. I had my doubts too until I had a chance to run one for myself.

  • Huge car, but... I don't know what other people may think, but I found the speed on track to be really low. Maybe the engine is weak, or the clutch engages too early? As a matter of fact this is a heavy truck, and 4 wheel drive hooks up lot of power too

  • a slednecks sticker? on rc car??!!!!

  • REALLY GREAT JOB LOSI TEAM and nice preview HH ;)))

    greatting from South of France

  • @TheOldharleyguy57

CY engine are known to be weak since their a 2 bolt design, I'd take it as easy as possible to get all the gaskets through their heat cycles. Also look at Zenoah engines, their a 4 bolt design.

  • how much $

  • This guy from Losi says one tank of fuel taking it easy for break in but I have been watching videos where the guys are running 1-2 tanks with the truck on blocks with motor at idle and then a couple more a low throttle-coast driving. Who's right on this the guy that spent $1600 for the truck or the guy who is selling replacement engine's when you blow one up?

  • hehe make a sheet metal body for this beast.

  • way too much time with the camera on their old heads instead of focusing on the truck and the components.

  • these guys should get jang to edit and produce the video work for them.
